Best Watch Trends of the Year
This year was most definitely the year of green. Always associated with positive things such as nature, luck, and peace, the color green really broke out in 2021 as an established trend in luxury watches. A similar thing happened with blue a few years back, and its now a popular choice for watchmakers and collectors all over the world.
What color might be the next big thing? With innovative new brands like Filippo Loreti breaking the conservative old order in traditional watchmaking, changes come faster than they used to. Will 2022 be the year of yellow? Perhaps orange? We can’t wait to find out!
New Releases in 2021
The big additions to Filippo Loreti’s were the Eterno Collection, in both aviation and diver styles, and the Como.
The Eterno in particular made waves among watch enthusiasts as an extremely rare example of a high-quality automatic for under $300. It has quickly become a best-seller, with the diver version attracting rave reviews for its retro 1960s vibes.
The Como offers a more casual, laid-back style that’s ideal for everyday wear. Priced at less than $200 it’s another fantastic example of affordable luxury and makes for a great gift for any occasion.
2022 promises even more exciting new releases to add to your collection. Filippo Loreti designers are busy at work and can assure us that there are at least 2 new collections in the pipeline. What will they be? Stay tuned throughout the year for updates.
Best Watches of the Year
Let’s look back at our favourite and best-selling watches of the year. Here you’ll find some updates on Filippo Loreti classics, as well as a couple of exciting newcomers.
1. Okeanos Green Steel Link Watch
Let’s start with a classy example of 2021’s hottest trend, the green watch. The Okeanos Green Steel Link is just gorgeous in green, giving a splash of eye-catching color to a stylish and elegant dive watch.
It’s easy to see why the Okeanos has consistently been one of Filippo Loreti’s best sellers over the years. Sporty yet subtle, with a clean face free of the usual dive watch complications, the Okeanos can easily double as a dress watch that’s ideal for more formal occasions. The sense of luxury is amplified by an engraved artwork on the case back, featuring none other than the Roman God Oceanos himself. This tasteful nod to the Okeanos’ underwater origins, alongside his trident subtly adorning the crown, is a testament to the detail and quality of an enduring Filippo Loreti classic.
And the best part? Our Filippo Loreti Watch of the Year is now available for just $159!
2. Venice Moonphase Blue Gold Watch
Long regarded as Filippo Loreti’s flagship timepiece, no list is complete without the Venice Moonphase.
Regularly compared to pieces in the $1000+ price range, the Venice was the watch that made people sit up and take notice - Filippo Loreti is seriously delivering on its promise of affordable luxury. This bright blue and gold edition features day-of-the-week, date-of-the-month, and month-of-the-year wheels, as well as the stunning moon phase complication that it has become known for it over and you’ll find an engraved artwork of St. Mark's Basilica, a Venetian icon, and a beautiful homage to The Floating City.
The Venice Moonphase Blue Gold is the perfect example of Filippo Loreti’s commitment to affordable luxury, selling for the great price of just $169.
3. Odyssey Two Tone Green Link Watch
Continuing the green theme of 2021 is the Odyssey Two Tone Green Link. This is another classic Filippo Loreti design that looks just stunning in green, tastefully matched with regal gold and silver details.
The Odyssey is inspired by Italy’s famous Riviera lifestyle and this is evident in its sporty yet luxurious design. Featuring advanced chronograph functionality and a sophisticated, complex dial, this is the perfect watch for sunny days by the sea, crisp white shirts, and a Martini in hand (shaken not stirred, naturally).
This is one of the finest examples of a green watch that we’ve seen all year, matching an on-trend color with timeless and classic style. It can be yours right now for $214.
4. Eterno Gilded Ash Watch
The Eterno was one of Filippo Loreti’s biggest stories of the year - a new release that took the best of a vintage classic and updated it with an advanced yet affordable automatic movement.
Automatic watches are much sought-after by collectors, providing the history and tradition of mechanical watchmaking with the convenience of automatic winding. Automatics are rarely priced below $500, such is the skill and craftsmanship required to build them, which is why the Eterno created such a buzz this year.
Inspired by the legendary “Polerouter,” an iconic aviation watch dating from the early 1950s, the Eterno combines retro design with modern technology, with this Gilded Ash version a perfect example of elegant dress watch style. Going for the incredible price of just $199, this is a must-have for any aspiring watch collector.
5. Como Rose Black Link Watch
Another exciting new release for 2021 was the Como, a “Dolce Vita” inspired watch that was designed to capture the casual luxury feeling of Italy’s most iconic lake.
The Como Rose Black Link takes the laid-back style of a classic nautical design and adds a touch of class with its ornate and unusual rose gold details. Featuring a unique chronograph hybrid movement, this finely-engineered timepiece also comes with an Italian leather strap, polished crown, and a glossy sun ray finish for extra sparkle on the dial.
A fine addition to the Filippo Loreti's family, the Como Rose Black Link is perfect everyday wear for the practical man of culture and style. And the price? A bargain at just $179.
6. Ascari Monza Black Rose Tiger Rubber Watch
Finally, we turn to another Filippo Loreti classic that’s been updated for 2021 - the Ascari Monza.
The Ascari is a stunning racing watch inspired by Alberto Ascari, the legendary Italian driver who was the first to win back-to-back World Championships in 1952 and 1953. The Monza edition takes the Ascari to new levels of complexity, adding a third chronograph wheel and engraved tachymeter bezel for that true “racing car dashboard” feel. There’s also a new rugged rubber strap for durability in the harshest environments, as well as fine rose gold details for a touch of luxury on a truly masculine timepiece.
It’s not only technical excellence in this watch of the year contender, however. Filippo Loreti is it over and you’ll find an engraved artwork of Ascari’s iconic Ferrari on the case back, a fitting homage to a man and his machine that made motorsport history. Every detail of the Monza is finely polished and textured, with all curves, edges, and surfaces getting a defined finishing that ensures the best reflection effect under any light conditions. In other words, this is a major update to an already brilliant collection! Time is running out to get your hands on one of these popular pieces though - they are selling fast at the price of just $195.
